Poetry Corner

Only when the last tree
Has been cut down
And the last river
Has dried to a trickle
Will man finally realise
That we cannot eat money
And reciting old proverbs
Makes you sound like a twat

Once upon a time there was a Bear
and a Bee who lived in a wood and
were the best of friends. All summer
long the Bee collected nectar from
morning to night while the Bear lay
on his back basking in the long grass

When Winter came the Bear
realised he had nothing to ea and
thought to himself "I hope that bust
little Bee will share some of his
honey with me". But the Bee was
nowhere to be found - he had died of
a stress realted coronary disease

Altogether Now

I always thought it would be a little odd to admit I find this tune from Bombay Talkie just a tiny bit addictive, having drove my family and friends round the bend with it I thought burdening the interweb with it might relieve me. Now I'm not even ashamed to admit I like it, especially having heard Florence Welch play it on Radio One not so long ago - she sells records like nobodys business, she should know.

Exhibitionist - Grace Kelly

An exibition at the V&A will be dedicated to every girl's - young or old - style icon Grace Kelly. Even Mika tried to be like her, but apparently all her looks were too sad. Personally I'd be quite happy to see the Grace Kelly exhibition even if it means losing £7.40 pocket money but I wouldn't be so happy to fork out travel from the naughty north to the sexy south, only to find myself in a city I find overwhelming at the best of times. So heres hoping the lovely people taking Grace Kelly's clobber for a city break in London decide to stop off nearby and let us have a Captain Cook (look). I can't complain though, having had the chance to visit some amazing Vivienne Westwood creations at home in lovely industrial Sheffield.

On another more musical note, having finally fathomed the workings of last.fm early today I set about listening to some charming acoustic music for a sunny Sunday afternoon, when last.fm threw Jay Jay Pistolet in my face (not quite literaly, that could be quite embarrassing all round nevermind one heck of a throw). I'd heard Pistolet's name before but having disregarded him as a children's nursery rhyme character my interest never went further, until today that is. So after having decided personalised radio done good I just couldn't help myself leaving it behind while I mulled over Pistolet's artist page.

Having set up a playlist it was time to venture further into cyberspace where I stumbled across an old favourite, I say old as in I hadn't visited for two months and I say favourite as in I found it on my favourites list. The website in question was ElsieBelle, a site selling some of the quirkiest, loveliest vintage inspired jewellery. Although, I'm happy to say ElsieBelle's gems do seem to stay in one piece for longer than true vintage treats. http://www.elsiebelle.com/
